LP Gas policy
Following feedback from stakeholders in the LP Gas industry, ESV has developed a policy to clarify the boundary of its regulatory interests as they relate to the supply of LP Gas.
The policy:
a) clarifies the regulatory jurisdiction of the Gas Safety Act 1997 in respect to the LP Gas industry;
b) defines the boundary of ESV’s interests with the dangerous goods regime and operation of the plumbing regulations;
c) describes the basis for the declaration of some entities as “gas companies” which requires ESV regulatory oversight; and
d) explains the direction of ESV’s resources and regulatory attention within the LP Gas supply industry, without impinging on the direction of other regulators.
The policy will be of most interest to companies which operate upstream assets in the LP Gas supply chain, LP Gas suppliers with responsibilities in relation to the handling of LP Gas through the supply chain to the end user.
