Electrolysis and Cathodic Protection Regulation

Energy Safe Victoria is responsible for the protection of underground and underwater structures from the corrosive effects of stray electrical currents – Electrolysis. We do this by registering Cathodic Protection Systems (CPS) and monitoring responsible entities for compliance to their obligations under the Electricity Safety Act 1998External Link and the Electricity Safety (Cathodic Protection) Regulations 2019External Link .
