Lineworker licensing
On 1 January 2021 Energy Safe Victoria introduced a new licensing regime for Lineworkers (including cable jointers). The new licensing regime will improve safety outcomes for lineworkers by providing greater oversight, accountability and regulation of the industry.
Distribution, transmission and traction Lineworkers (including cable jointers) will not be authorised to work without a licence after 1 January 2021, and fees may apply for licence applications after this date.
Licensing of Lineworkers is a priority for the Victorian Government and will help the industry to maintain a safe and suitably qualified workforce.
New licence applications
Both new and existing Lineworkers (and cable jointers) were required to register with ESV before 14 December 2020 to receive their first five-year licence on time and at no cost before the January 2021 deadline.
If you did not register before this deadline, please email our Licensing Team at LLenquiry@energysafe.vic.gov.au as soon as possible for further information.
