Marnie Williams is Victoria’s Director of Energy Safety. A former executive at WorkSafe and Chair of the Taxi Services Directorate, Ms Williams takes up this position as ESV begins the transition to a commission.
Instead of a single Director, statutory decisions will be made by a three person commission. Ms Williams is chair-designate of the Commission. The appointment of the remaining two Commissioners will be made by the Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio, to whom Ms Williams reports directly.
Under the Energy Safe Victoria Act 2005, Ms Williams is currently accountable for the safe generation, supply and use of electricity, gas and the safe operation of licensed pipelines in Victoria, and ensuring the regulations covering gas, electricity and pipeline safety are effectively administered and continually updated.
