Director of Energy Safety

Marnie Williams

A former senior executive at WorkSafe and CEO of the Taxi Services Commission, Ms Williams takes up her position as ESV begins the transition to a Commission. The introduction of the new governance model will see statutory decisions be made by a three person Commission, instead of solely by the Director. Ms Williams is Chair-designate of the Commission. The appointment of the two Deputy Commissioners will be made by the Minister for Energy Lily D’Ambrosio.

Ms Williams is well placed to implement the reforms brought about by the Review of Victoria’s Electricity and Gas Network Safety Framework (the Grimes Review) and ensure ESV can meet the energy safety challenges of the future.
